A design philosophy

AR78 is a one-craftsman atelier — no middlemen; the designer and the builder are the same hands. Each collection begins with an idea before a single length of timber is chosen: a material, a technique, a way light moves through a room. The material changes from one collection to the next; the philosophy never does.

Heritage

AR78 carries a quieter inheritance than most ateliers. My family’s name was nearly erased from history within living memory — scattered, exiled, the records scrubbed clean. An ancestor once restored it, not by claiming a title, but by building: rebuilding a country, opening its gardens to the public, spending his own fortune so others could eat. I carry no title, and claim none. What I carry is the instinct — to make things worth keeping, and to believe an object can hold more than what it does. Every piece that leaves this workshop continues that, quietly.
